Letter: Firsthand look at drug costs

I have a comment on the article written by Lee Bowman of Scripps Howard News Service, which appeared in the June 25 edition of the Sun.

Regarding the price quoted for the drug Prilosec, of $1,684 for a year's supply:

I don't know where Bowman got this information, but it is way off. I have to have this medication, and since I am a senior citizen trying to live on Social Security, I shop around for the best price.

The lowest price I have found (and this includes my discount from AARP) is $239.72 for a one-month supply. According to my calculations, the reporter is about $1,192.64 off.
