National adding service

Monday, July 1, 2002 | 11:01 a.m.

Las Vegas-based National Airlines plans seasonal service between McCarran International Airport and Palm Beach County, Fla., from Nov. 21 through April 29.

The airline, operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, will have one daily nonstop round trip to Palm Beach. Flights will leave Las Vegas for Palm Beach at 4:20 p.m., with the return flight leaving Florida at 8 a.m. National is getting new Boeing 757 twin-engine jets to schedule the service.

National already serves Miami with two daily flights and will add a third in November. Passengers with tickets to Miami can change them to Palm Beach without penalty through July 31.

National also announced today that it is revising its pricing strategy to relax restrictions for last-minute business and leisure travelers.

Mark Suman, senior vice president of marketing and strategic planning for the airline, said the company's new FareSavers program would reduce the cost of some of the airline's most expensive first-class and coach tickets.

The initiative is similar to one implemented by National rival America West Airlines in March.
