The Memphis Grizzlies hired former assistant and interim head coach Lionel Hollins as an assistant coach Sunday.
Hollins, 49, was interim head coach with the team during the last 60 games of the 1999-2000 season, finishing with an 18-42 record. The Rancho High graduate was the team's lead assistant coach for the 1995-96 inaugural season until becoming interim head coach.
After leaving the Grizzlies, Hollins served briefly as a head coach in the United States Basketball League, the International Basketball League and with the Harlem Globetrotters.
He was an assistant with the Phoenix Suns from 1988-1995.
Hollins played in the NBA for 10 seasons, winning a championship with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977. He was an All-Star in 1978.
