Equipment maker to offer ‘intelligent’ poker game

Monday, July 1, 2002 | 11:01 a.m.

Mikohn Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas has entered into a licensing agreement to offer Heads Up Poker, a patented version of video poker that allows players to compete against an intelligent computer opponent.

Gamblers can play a more traditional version of poker by bluffing, raising, calling and folding, as well as standard video poker, Mikohn said.

The company has licensed the game from manufacturer Gamecraft Inc. of Huntington Beach, Calif.

The agreement allows Mikohn to develop the game, which could be submitted to regulators by mid-2003.

Heads Up Poker already is played at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif. Gamecraft also has agreements with the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut and other Indian casino operators.
