Letter: GAO about to blow lid off scam

Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 | 8:45 a.m.

When Rep. Jim Greenwood, R-Pa., made an analogy concerning Enron, he should have finished the comparison. He said Enron executives were stealing from the employees and shareholders, Arthur Andersen provided the getaway car and Arthur Andersen's auditor (Mr. Duncan) was driving.

He should have added that Congress, like paid-off cops, looked the other way during the robbery. The cops were Republicans in particular and Democrats in general.

Vice President Dick Cheney received about 16 million from the energy firm Haliburton when he left their employment. Enron (top GOP contributor) was at all Cheney "secret" energy meetings at the White House. The fact that the General Accounting Office is about to blow the lid on this GOP scam explains why Cheney has distanced himself from the White House and why he has all those stress-related heart problems.

I think Mr. Baxter's suicide should be thoroughly investigated; he was most likely "snuffed out" by the "mob." (Where is Rep. Dan Burton when you really need him?)

I sure hope the GAO (the good guys) gets the documents from the Mafia Don and tells the taxpayers where's the loot!
