David Relf and Jason Thomas formed one of the top passing combinations in Southern California prep football when they were teammates at Compton's Dominguez High School. Now the duo will reunite at UNLV.
The 6-1, 190-pound Relf, who caught 65 passes for 1,140 yards and 10 touchdowns last season at Compton College, has enrolled at UNLV and will take part in spring practice in April.
Relf decided to attend UNLV even though the school wouldn't be able to put him on scholarship until next fall. He's paying his own way for one semester to get a head start in the Rebel offense.
"I'm enrolled," Relf said. "I'm just ready to play some ball here. It's going to be a little tough paying my own way, but I'll get a job and some financial aid. I just couldn't wait to get started."
Relf also was recruited by Louisville, Washington State and Oregon State.
