David Blitz

David Blitz, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. He was born Nov. 20, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired manager of a furniture manufacturing firm, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of a duplicate bridge club.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah; one daughter, Rena Ann Grossman of Denver; two sons, Howard Jay Blitz of Yuma, Ariz., and Larry Edwin Blitz of Encino, Calif.; one brother, Sidney Blitz of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be 12:40 p.m. Feb. 1 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Bobby J. Casteel Sr.

Bobby J. Casteel Sr., 48, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Texarkana, Texas. A resident for five years, he was a retired Army veteran who served for 20 years and then became a mail carrier for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Joanna; two daughters, Shereen Padgett of Hawaii and Stephana Casteel of Texas; four sons, Bobby J. Casteel Jr. of Texas, Bryant Casteel and Richard Hesia, both of California, and Dennis Hesia Jr. of Hawaii; five brothers; five sisters; and 10 grandchildren.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Demko

Dorothy Demko, 82, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Gary, Ind. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; two daughters, Kathleen Reifeiss of Las Vegas and Darlene LaValley of Crown Point, Ind.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services and burial will be in Indiana through Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt St., Valparaiso, Ind.

Edna Mae Dye

Edna Mae Dye, 90, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Hurdsfield, N.D. A resident for 24 years, she was a retired manager of a deli chain.

She is survived by two daughters, Verona Johnson of Twin Valley, Minn., and Sharlene Halverson of Las Vegas; one son, Lyle Maydole of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 5701 N. Jones Blvd.

James E. Fleming

James E. Fleming, 65, of Henderson died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Philadelphia. A resident for 10 years, he was a train engineer, a Korean War and Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran, a member of Prince Hall F&AM, Disabled American Club of Henderson and Sunshine Boys.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine M.; three daughters, Paulette Green and Giselle Fleming, both of North Carolina, and Jaime Green of California; two sons, Derek Fleming of North Carolina and John Barringer of Philadelphia; six sisters, Elaine Smith of California, Margarett Freeman and Carolyn Fleming, both of Pennsylvania, Katherine Johnson and Teresa Fleming, both of New Jersey, and Elizabeth Fleming-McLaughlin of Maryland; four brothers, William A. Fleming and Anthony Fleming, both of Pennsylvania, Clayton Fleming of California and George Fleming of Delaware; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 9:20 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Ollie R. Frith

Ollie R. Frith, 85, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born May 22, 1916, in Talbot, Texas. A resident for six years, he was a retired dairy processor.

He is survived by one son, Charles Firth of Las Vegas; his friend, Evelyn Schmidt of Henderson; three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Harbor Christian Fellowship Church, 2675 S. Lamb Blvd. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Sylvia Hart

Sylvia Hart, 84, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Spring Valley, N.Y. A resident for 52 years, she was a homemaker, past president of the Temple Beth Sholom Sisterhood, a lifetime member of Hadassah, a member of Variety Club and Chaine Rotisseriers and a volunteer at Helen Stewart School.

She is survived by one daughter, Ronnie Abrams of Henderson; one son, Steven Hart of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane, followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Marjorie Lois Humphrey

Marjorie Lois Humphrey, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 6, 1916, in Santa Monica, Calif. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired technical writer for Ratheon in Santa Barbara, Calif.

She is survived by one daughter, Gayle Herman of Sacramento; one sister, Barbara Wentfall of Costa Mesa, Calif.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Peter Ingoglia

Peter Ingoglia, 86, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 20, 1915, in Baltimore. A resident for 22 years, he was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Napaporn Krailert; one son, Fred Krailert of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Julius L. Jones

Julius L. Jones, 51, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 26, 1950, in Rock Island, Ill. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired men's clothing salesman and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Anthony Jones of Virginia; numerous brothers and sisters; and one grandchild.

No local services are scheduled. Services will be in Rock Island. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Harriette Leve

Harriette Leve, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Nov. 15, 1915, in New York.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Leve and Robert Leve.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in New York state. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Edward Malm

Edward Malm, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Weston, Neb. A resident for 60 years, he was a retired power company warehouseman, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lydia; four sons, Jim Malm, Greg Malm, Bob Malm and Chris Malm, all of Las Vegas; one daughter, Julie Ambrose of Bullhead City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive with burial following in Palm Memorial Park.

Thomas H. Matteson

Thomas H. Matteson, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired procurement manager for an aircraft manufacturer, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Stardusters Square Dancers Club and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen; three daughters, Shirley Matteson of Yucca Valley, Calif., Donna Banda of Fort Worth, Texas, and Evelyn Smith of Hooper, Utah; one sister, Shirley Jackson of Ardmore, Okla.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Monroe O. Moore

Monroe O. Moore, 84, of Boulder City died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Cisco, Texas. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired civil engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Boulder City Masonic Lodge 37.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; two daughters, Ginger Moore of Boulder City and Carol Bennett of Windsor, Colo.; one son, Greg Moore of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Marjorie Ray of Hobbs, N.M.; four brothers, Raymond Moore of Big Springs, Texas, Freeman Moore of Odessa, Texas, Ernest Moore of Lubbock, Texas, and W.O. Moore of Ocala, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Daniel Edward Nelson, 47, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 33 years, he was born June 30, 1954, in Springer, N.M.

He is survived by his parents, Dale and Helen Nelson, and two brothers, Mark Nelson and Matthew Nelson, all of Las Vegas; and five sisters, Melissa Stevens of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Kane, Mary Nelson-Brown and Katherine Nelson, all of Las Vegas, and Elizabeth Melancon of Loyalton, Calif.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until a 7 p.m. rosary today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 220 N. 14 St., with burial following in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Marvin Panek

Marvin Panek, 76, of Pahrump died Thursday in Pahrump. He was born Oct. 16, 1925, in South Dakota. A resident for two years, he was a retired computer analyst, a Navy veteran who served from 1943-1946 and a member of the Air Force Reserves for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two sons, Quentin Panek of California and Craig Panek of Texas; one daughter, Diane Jones of Washington state; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is private. Burial will be in California. Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road, is handling arrangements.

Janet Sue Pecorino

Janet Sue Pecorino, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Albany, Ky. A resident for 18 years, she was a floor person for Coast Resorts.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony; her father, Jim Whittington of Franklin, Ind.; her mother, Leann Frodge, one brother, Jeff Whittington, and three sisters, Patricia Scrogham, Kay Padgett and Vickie Scrogham, all of Columbus, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 3 p.m. services Sunday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Columbus.

Katherine W. Perry

Katherine W. Perry, 89, of San Bernardino, Calif., died Monday in a California care center. She was born Dec. 9, 1912, in San Francisco. A former Las Vegas resident for more than 20 years, she was a beautician.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Charmain Kaplan of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Ann Weber of Nevada; and one sister, Betty Mae Bertges of San Bernardino.

Darrell Duane 'Rass' Rasmussen

Darrell Duane "Rass" Rasmussen, 60, of Overton died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 21, 1941, in Minnesota. A resident of Moapa Valley for six years, he was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by two daughters, Danea Gollahon and Jenie Ramos, both of Overton; his mother, Ila Rasmussen, and one brother, Gayle Rasmussen, both of Ivanhoe, Minn.; and seven grandchildren.

Charles Trammel, 67, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 18, 1934.

James Winstein

James Winstein, 38, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 11, 1963, in Los Angeles. A resident for 26 years, he was a taxicab driver and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Danieri, his father and stepmother, Gail and Howard Winstein III, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Nancy Snyder of Cypress, Calif., and Linda Schlotthauer of California; and his grandmother, Christine Winstein of Las Vegas.

Darlene A. Winter

Darlene A. Winter, 47, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born July 27, 1954, in Bridgeport, Conn. A resident for 17 years, she was a retired food service manager.

She is survived by two brothers, Frank Dungelman of Henderson and Ralph Dungelman of New Haven, Conn.

Daniel Ziemba, 73, of Pahrump died Tuesday in Pahrump. He was born Dec. 18, 1929, in Chicago. A resident for 52 years, he was a manager at Nevada Bell for 12 years, a member of the Pioneer Club and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Cindi Brown of California, Karen Sue Patton of Pahrump and Danielle Josselyn of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
