Phillip Peckman has been named chairman of the board of directors of Employers Insurance Co. of Nevada, the state's leading workers' compensation provider.
Peckman succeeds gaming executive Michael Rumbolz, who served as chairman of the Employers Insurance board since January 2000 before he resigned late last year for undisclosed reasons.
Peckman had served as a board member with the Reno-based Employers Insurance prior to his Jan. 1 appointment. He will fulfill Rumbolz's unfinished term until the company's annual meeting in May. At that time, Peckman or another candidate will be selected to serve a one-year term as chairman, said Employers Insurance spokesman Phil Levine.
Peckman is chief operating officer of the Greenspun Corp., whose business interests include the real estate development firm American Nevada Corp. and the Greenspun Media Group.
The Greenspun family owns both Greenspun Corp. and the Las Vegas Sun.
