Letter: Big Bosses won’t get hurt over Enron
Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 | 9:18 a.m.
The Enron heist is the latest argument for campaign finance reform, but don't expect meaningful corporate regulation or justice anytime soon.
The Republican mob in Congress is on the take from the corporate syndicate and George W. Bush is the syndicate's mouthpiece. So many in the Justice Department have recused themselves that the investigation will be run by a file clerk.
Now that the heat's on, Enron and Arthur Anderson point fingers at one another and a few guys are taking the fall for it. Don't worry about the fall guys, though. They will just write a book about it and make more millions.
Perhaps they'll get born again and travel the Christian corporate circuit giving lectures. Oh, some loophole legislation will be passed, but it will be business as usual.
When a punk knocks over a convenience store for a few bucks, he's headed for the slammer; but when the Big Bosses knock over a retirement fund for millions, no one ends up in the clink. They are too well connected.
