NLV Police will hand out kits
North Las Vegas Police officers will hand out 3,000 free gun safety kits on Monday and Tuesday.
The department received the kits from Project Homesafe, a nationwide firearms safety education program funded by that U.S. Department on Justice. The program's goal is to prevent a loaded firearm from being left in a place where a child could find it and play with it, potentially harming themselves or someone else.
The kits include a gun lock and pamphlets on firearm safety and preventing teen violence. No forms have to be filled out to receive a kit.
Anyone who wants a kit can come to the Wal-Mart parking lot at 1807 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas. Police officers will hand them out Monday and Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
