Abel Barcelon
Abel Barcelon, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 23, 1926, in Las Animas, Colo. A resident for 52 years, he was a retired insurance agent, World War II Army veteran and a member of the Moose.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Barcelon, one son, Robert A. Barcelon, and his companion, June Gross, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Dorothy Lemonds and Hazel Finch, both of Douglas City, Calif.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
Leon Bennett
Leon Bennett, 45, of Las Vegas died Jan. 18 in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1957, in Shreveport, La. A resident for three years, he was a transportation manager.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; one son, Melvin Sneed, and two daughters, Melissa Dionne Sneed and Crystal Nicole Bennett, all of Las Vegas; his father, William Bennett of Los Angeles; his mother, Everline Porter of Houston; and two sisters, Venita Bennett and Kathy Perrish, both of Carson, Calif.
Services were scheduled at noon today in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Burial was private.
Ruth C. Day
Ruth C. Day, 87, of Boulder City died Jan. 17 in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1914, in Maine. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Thames of Westbrook, Conn., Catherine Day of Boulder City and Margaret Antenowitz of Las Vegas; five sons, George Day of Pahrump, Edward Day of Knoxville, Tenn., Ernest Day of Marlboro, Conn., Kenneth Day of Tennessee, and Arthur Day of Waterford, Conn.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Henderson, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Marguerite Gallie
Marguerite Gallie, 81, of Las Vegas died Jan. 17 in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Indianapolis. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired bank teller.
She is survived by one son, Michael Gallie of Washington, D.C.
Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Margaret 'Peggy' Knecht
Margaret "Peggy" Knecht, 70, of Henderson died Sunday in a local care center. She was born April 16, 1931, in Boston. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Jane Nangle of Mansfield, Maine.
A celebration of life gathering will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at 122 St. Albans, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, handled arrangements.
Edward A. McArdle
Edward A. McArdle, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Topeka, Kan. A resident for 44 years, he owned and operated Nifty's and Sum Place Else Bar and Grill and was a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Edward J. McArdle of Las Vegas and James Anderson of Palm Springs, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby McArdle of Gardenia, Calif., Bety Adams of Topeka, Kan., and Alice Murphy of Sacramento; one brother, Robert McArdle of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was scheduled 2-5 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel Main, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.
Donovan E. McMachen
Donovan E. McMachen, 92, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1909, in Northport, Mich. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired construction superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie; four sons, John McMachen of Palm Springs, Calif., and Larry McMachen, Darrell McMachen and Ken McMachen, all of Las Vegas; six daughters, Beverly Kirka of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Phyllis Olson of Las Vegas, Carol Groesser of Traverse City, Mich., Sharon Kalchik of Northport, Barbara Lowry of Honor, Mich., and Jillene Cranfill of Morongo Valley, Calif.; one brother, Henry McMachen of Paw Paw, Mich.; 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Omena, Mich. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Lydia K. Mettler
Lydia K. Mettler, 99, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1902, in Menno, S.D. A resident for 24 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Corrine Gerrish Lynch of Henderson; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.
George T. Okada
George T. Okada, 69, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 18, 1932, in Redondo Beach, Calif. A resident for 32 years, he was a retired landscaper and an Army veteran.
He is survived by one son, Michael M. Okada, and one sister, Yae Sato, both of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
John Rich
John Rich, 92, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 13, 1909, in Nutley, N.J. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired bus driver.
He is survived by three sons, Angelo Riccio of Las Vegas and Sam Riccio and John Riccio, both of Henderson; one daughter, Catherine Curtis of Las Vegas; one brother, Nick Rich of California; two stepsons, Joe Fama of Henderson and Silvio Fama of California; one stepsister, Clara Fama of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was scheduled 1-2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by graveside services in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Colin Case Richards
Colin Case Richards, 33, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 27, 1968, in Minneapolis. A resident for three years, he was a salesman for a chemical and equipment company.
He is survived by his wife, Julie A.; two daughters, Shaun Richards and Maggie Richards, his mother, Jean A. Richards, and his father, Ross B. Richards, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Kent B. Richards of Las Vegas and Matthew B. Richards of Vancouver, Wash.; his grandmother, Pearl Case Richards of Tacoma, Wash.; and his grandfather, C. Bruce Albert of Mt. Vernon, Wash.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Friday in the LDS Willows Ward at 9825 W. Desert Inn Road, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

John J. Riley
John J. Riley, 62, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born July 22, 1939, in Chicago. A resident for 18 years, he was a convention exhibit setter and a member of Teamsters Local 631.
He is survived by one son, Craig Riley, and one sister, Pat Rolla, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 5 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Ann G. Samuels
Ann G. Samuels, 65, of Las Vegas died Jan. 18 in a local hospital. She was born April 5, 1936, in Cleveland. A resident for five years, she was a systems manager.
She is survived by one son, Bernard Gay of Cleveland; one daughter, Carmen Gay of Las Vegas; one sister, Olivia Clark of California; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to 3 p.m. services today in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive, followed by a private burial.
Theresa Sarrica
Theresa Sarrica, 90, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 31, 1911, in Ozone Park, N.Y. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired department store floor manager.
She is survived by two sons, Louis Sarrica and John Sarrica, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Al Zollo of New York City; two sisters, Ann Salvaggio of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Mary Bencenivagina of New York.
Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. with a 4 p.m. rosary Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
Jerry Silverstein
Jerry Silverstein, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired sandwich shop owner and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; one daughter, Patti Berry of Henderson; two sons, Marshall Silverstein of Vista, Calif., and Jan Silverstein of Las Vegas; one brother, Gerald Silverstein of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Rhoda Rose of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
Francisco Tejada-Medrano
Francisco Tejada-Medrano, 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born March 12, 1948, in Durango, Mexico. A resident for seven years, he was a retired machinist in the plastics industry.
He is survived by his wife, Martina; one daughter, Mirella T. Carrillo, and one son, Octavio Tejada, both of Las Vegas; 16 brothers and sisters; and one grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. service Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Additional services will be 8 a.m. Saturday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd.
Nicholas Valdez
Nicholas Valdez, 77, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Mexico. A resident for three years, he was a laborer.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Borrero and Jose Cortez, and two daughters, Yolanda Campos and Angelica Lopez, all of California.
No local services are scheduled. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive, handled arrangements.
Warren J. Wadsworth
Warren J. Wadsworth, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Burley, Idaho. A resident for 60 years, he was a retired railroad brakeman/conductor, World War II Navy veteran and a member of the United Transportation Union and the Challenger Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Sharon Shepard of Arizona; one son, Brian Wadsworth of Los Angeles; one brother, Robert Wadsworth of Ogden, Utah; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by graveside services at 2 p.m. in Memory Gardens.
