If you recognize the name, yes, it is the same man who brought you "The Godfather" trilogy and other great movies. But in addition to producing and directing films, he is also a dedicated winemaker, and this hearty red, which the director intended to reproduce the red wine he drank at home as a child, is just as entertaining as his films. This is a rich and robust wine, a blend of several grapes, and is wonderful with Italian foods. It is fresh, bright and fruity, and you can drink it now or lay it down for a year or two.
Available at Cost Plus World Markets, $8.99, and Wild Oats Markets, $8.99.
