LV company eliminates six sales positions

Park Place Entertainment Corp. of Las Vegas has eliminated its corporate hotel group sales department. The move resulted in the elimination of six positions, four of them executive-level.

Park Place spokeswoman Debbie Munch said the move was the result of a change in strategy. Group sales will now be handled at each individual Park Place property, she said.

"We feel group sales will be handled more effectively and efficiently at the property level," Munch said.

Group sales include convention business, as well as sales to wholesalers and tour and travel companies.
