School District to sell used furniture

Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 | 8:46 a.m.

The Clark County School District will hold a used furniture sale 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at its equipment warehouse, 4212 Eucalyptus Ave., off Flamingo Road near Eastern Avenue.

The furniture comes from schools that recently have received new furniture under the School District's furniture replacement program. Part of the 1998 bond issue, the program allows older schools to have their furniture evaluated and replaced if it is found to need it.

Evaluation of the district's oldest schools began in June 2000. The program will continue through this year.

The program, Superintendent Carlos Garcia said, "helps to create equity between the older schools and new schools."

Today, School District employees will get first dibs on the old furniture for use in their classrooms or offices, for no charge.

Cash and local checks with valid Nevada photo ID will be accepted for furniture purchases on Wednesday.

Furniture that is not purchased will be donated to charities on Thursday.
