UNLV senior Marianne Bakken used three sets to down Ashley Robards of Tennessee and win the women's singles consolation bracket of the 2002 National Collegiate Tennis Classic at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Sunday.
The win wrapped up a successful weekend for the Lady Rebels against competition from three of the nation's top 15 teams.
On the men's side, unranked Rodrido Grill of UCLA continued to shock everyone by upsetting No. 49 David Martin of Stanford, 6-4, 7-5, for the crown. In consolation play, Phil Sheng downed Sam Warburg, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, in a battle of Stanford teammates.
