New Red Flag exercise to start
Red Flag 02-2 starts Saturday when 50 military aircraft from around the United States arrive at Nellis Air Force Base for intense combat training.
During the two-week exercise, flight crews will simulate air war over the nearby Nevada Test and Training Range.
Residents in the Las Vegas Valley and rural areas will notice increased aircraft operations from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. weekdays starting Tuesday, Red Flag officials said.
This exercise is smaller than usual.
Meeting scheduled on accessing research
The Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada-West will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday in the multipurpose room of the Sahara West Library.
Carole Montello will explain Landsmanschaften Societies and Yiskor Books and how they can be used for genealogical research, and she will provide information on which facilities are holding the material and how to access it.
