Savvy wine buys: Louis Jadot ‘00 Beaujolais
Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002 | 8:22 a.m.
Beaujolais is a light red wine produced from the Gamay grape in northern Burgundy, France. It is produced in great abundance. More of this varietal is produced than of all the rest of the wines of Burgundy put together, but the quantity does not take away from the fact that this is a serious -- and extremely flavorful -- wine. Louis Jadot is a negociant, or blender and seller of grapes that it does not actually grow, and one of the biggest wine producers in France. This is its generic Beaujolais, but it is delicious, refreshing, and a fine value.
Available at Wild Oats Markets, $8.99.
