Josephine Alves
Josephine Alves, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A nurse's aide, she was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Naples, Italy.
She is survived by two daughters, Maria Myles-Williams of Las Vegas and Rose Alves of North Las Vegas; one son, Augustine Alves of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a noon service Saturday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. H St. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Yvonne Bernier
Yvonne Bernier, 98, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. She was born Feb. 8, 1903, in Waterbury, Conn. A resident for 22 years, she was a retired manager of an insurance company.
She is survived by one nephew, Franklin Bernier of Southington, Conn.; one niece, Dorothy O'Riely of San Diego; and one grandnephew, Phillip O'Riely of Las Vegas.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
John Merlin Bunker
John Merlin Bunker, 94, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 12, 1907, in Panaca. A lifelong resident of Southern Nevada, he was a civil service employee.
He is survived by three sons, James Bunker of Las Vegas, Vernon "Monty" Bunker of New Mexico and John Waite of Idaho; three brothers, Loren Bunker of Logandale, Lynn Bunker of St. George, Utah, and Edward Bunker of Oregon; one sister, Arlene Biggs of California; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS Serene Ward, Serene Avenue and Maryland Parkway. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Kenny Busse
Kenny Busse, 24, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1977, in Milwaukee. A resident for 23 years, he was an automobile salesman.
He is survived by one son, Kenny Busse Jr., his father, Kenneth Busse, his mother, Connie Mishefske, his fiancee, Alanna Duffy, one sister, Summer Busse, and one brother, Chris Cannistra, all of Las Vegas.
A memorial service will be noon Sunday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Carolyn Carl
Carolyn Carl, 66, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Milwaukee. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired airport security screener.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; five sons, Scott Carl of Las Vegas, Steve Carl and Jeffery Carl, both of Santa Barbara, Calif., Thomas Carl of Los Angeles and Larry Carl of Forestville, Calif.; two sisters, Joan Donnelly and Luann Mazzone, and one brother, Joe Geuder, all of Henderson.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Joseph Carter
Joseph Carter, 75, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 17, 1926, in Mississippi. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired bus driver for the Clark County School District, a Vietnam War Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10057.
He is survived by 11 daughters, Sharon Wilson, Jacquline Pringle, Carlos Kimbal, Sheila Ellis, Hilda Everfield, Gertrude Carter, Jessie Carter, Juanita Carter and Latasha Carter, all of Las Vegas, Eva Fisher of Palmdale, Calif., and Kathy Milan of Barcelona, Spain; three sons, Eric Carter, Gerald Carter and James Carter, two sisters, Eloise Devine and Christine Pittman, and one brother, Charles Carter, all of Las Vegas; 27 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave. Graveside services are private.
Pauline C. Davis
Pauline C. Davis, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 2, 1940, in St. Paul, Minn. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired licensed practical nurse and an Army veteran.
She is survived by one son, Anthony; one daughter, Theresa Vodicka of Las Vegas; her mother, Opal Zander of Santa Ana, Calif.; two brothers, Harold Zander of Santa Ana and Ken Zander of Missouri; two sisters, Kathleen Zander of Indian Springs and Deborah Zander of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Robert Thomas Diaz
Robert Thomas Diaz, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Havana. A resident for 32 years, he was a chauffeur.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; one son, Robert, and one daughter, Rosa Veiga, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Amparo Diaz and Alicia Diaz, both of Havana; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Patience McNamee Dion
Patience McNamee Dion, 77, of Bend, Ore., died Nov. 27 in Bend. She was born July 10, 1924, in Las Vegas. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by four daughters, Susan Roden of Oakland, Calif., Sally Stapleton of Berkeley Lake, Ga., Melina Hasbrouck of Livermore, Calif., and Maureen Schlerf of Bend; one son, Ned Dion of Cary, N.C.; one brother, Joseph McNamee of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.
Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor, Bend, handled arrangements.
Armando G. Elizarde
Armando G. Elizarde, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Tampa, Fla. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired casino boxman and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by one son, Tony Elizarde; and one brother, Joe Elizarde.
A memorial service will be 11:20 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Arthur John Estel
Arthur John Estel, 67, of Las Vegas died Jan. 5 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 16, 1934, in California. A resident for 22 years, he was a maintenance worker at the Nevada Test Site and a Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Liz; six sons, Russell Sherrod, Gary Sherrod, Charles Estel, Stacey Estel, Rick Welte and Paul Welte; four daughters, Dawn Sherrod Torres, Kristi Estel DeSeve, Leslie Estel and Becky Manning; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Gerald R. 'The Teach' Fagin
Gerald R. "The Teach" Fagin, 67, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Ohio. A resident for 41 years, he was a craps dealer at the Sands, a Marine Corps veteran, a spiritual adviser, a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 24 years and had a lifelong involvement in martial arts.
He is survived by three sons, Roger Fagin, Charles Fagin and Dr. James Fagin; one daughter, Toni Gordon; one brother, John Burrus; four sisters, Janet Dressell, Dorothy Hodge, Virginia Elkins and Linda Hall; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be 5 p.m. Friday in Trinity Methodist Church on West Charleston Boulevard. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Robert William Farrar
Robert William Farrar, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born June 2, 1940, in Peoria, Ill. A resident for 30 years, he was a casino surveillance officer, a Vietnam War Navy veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons, Buckley Richard Farrar of Las Vegas and Robert Warren Farrar of Oklahoma; two daughters, Lucia Marie Farrar of Las Vegas and Anna Marie Farrar-Favela of Nevada; and eight grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Anita Joanne Frakes
Anita Joanne Frakes, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. She was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Greeley, Colo. A resident for five years, she was a retired factory worker for a tile and glass company.
She is survived by one son, Michael L. Frakes of Los Angeles; one daughter, Cheri D. Camba of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
John F. Lundahl
John F. Lundahl, 79, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Silver City, N.M. A former Las Vegas resident for 10 years until 1985, he was a retired carpenter and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy W.; four daughters, Sharon Ferguson of Hillsboro, Mo., Beverly Dorame of Phoenix, Alice Barr of San Dimas, Calif., and Cherie Thompson of Henderson; two sons, Richard Lundahl and George Lundahl, both of Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palo Verde LDS Chapel, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Ruth W. Nelson, 84, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1917, in St. Paul, Minn. A resident for 39 years, she was a retired administrative assistant for the Clark County School District and KLVX Channel 10, a member of PEO Chapter V and a charter member of Assistance League of Las Vegas.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy N. Slick of Sandy, Utah; two sons, Edward W. Nelson of Salt Lake City and John W. Nelson of Santa Monica, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Ellen O'Daly of Salinas, Calif., and Vera Shoop of La Jolla, Calif.; and three brothers, Alex Cosentino of Los Osos, Calif., Robert Cosentino of Red Bluff, Calif., and Frank Cosentino of Ione, Calif.

He is survived by one son, Robert McVane; one daughter, Lila Lindsey; one brother, Clark Smith; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Lurlin Marshall Vandervere, 27, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born June 21, 1974, in Gallup, N.M. A resident for five years, he was a truck driver.
He is survived by his mother, Lellia Owens, and her father, Ferlin Vandervere, both of Yatahey, N.M.
