The Nevada Office of Veterans Services is seeking ideas from veterans and veterans groups on issues it should focus on during the 2003 Legislature in lobbying the state's congressional delegation.
A meeting to discuss the ideas will be held April 6 in Reno. It will be teleconferenced to Las Vegas at the organization's local board room, 1700 Vegas Drive. Ideas must be submitted by March 20. For information call the local Office of Veterans Services at 636-3070.
Steve Long, deputy director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services, said some of the ideas already discussed include reduced college tuitions at state-run institutions for children of veterans and the creation of additional home loans for veterans.
"Of course, we also will want to maintain the status such as reduced rates of POW and Medal of Honor license plates and fishing licenses for disabled veterans," Long said. "We don't want to lose anything we've gained over the years."
