The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is hosting award-winning book reviewer Nancy Pearl at 7 tonight at the Enterprise Library, 25 E. Shelbourne, and 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
Pearl, executive director of the Washington Center for the Book at Seattle Public Library, will talk about ways to find new titles that readers will enjoy.
The programs kick off the library district's first-ever "Reading Las Vegas," a reading program for adults 18 and older. Reading logs can be picked up at any district library beginning Feb. 1.

Hypnotherapy class offered for smokers
Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite 330, will host a stop smoking on the spot using hypnosis class from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Bill Hershey, certified hypnotherapist, will lead a general discussion about hypnosis and conclude with a group of hypnosis, which will retrain the subconscious to dislike the taste of cigarettes.
Hershey will also talk about the body's ability to restore the lungs and heart, which begins just hours after one quits smoking, and provide each attendee with a reinforcement audiotape. Cost is $20. Call 616-4900.
Mature Driving class to be held
A 55 Alive-AARP Mature Driving class will be from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday and Jan. 23 at the Las Vegas Senior Citizens Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road. Cost is $10. Call 229-6454.
