Columnist Kate Maddox: Report: Mick-a-like in video

Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002 | 8:22 a.m.

Last week the story of a Vegas stripper calling herself "Iris" and the mouthy Rolling Stones singer made headlines worldwide after she and her bogus management company, Harry Lime Management, tried to sell a tape to the London Daily Mirror for $60,000. In the video, Iris and Jagger were apparently caught in flagrante delicto in a suite at Aladdin.

However, Jagger has vehemently denied his involvement and according to those who attended October's Radio Music Awards at the Theatre for the Performing Arts, Jagger was a no-show.

So who was the mystery man in the X-rated Aladdin video? Insiders say he's a lookalike and a personal friend of the anonymous strip club owner.

Apparently he and the beanpole Jagger doppelganger, along with Iris (a dancer at one of his exotic clubs), worked the scheme to try to collect some blackmail bank. Most followers of the media trade know that British tabloids are notorious for offering beaucoup bucks if it means exposing a celebrity's seedy side. This time, though, the Mirror wasn't buying it.

As for the mysterious local schemester, he's reportedly telling friends that his Jagger clone idea was a big backfire and he'll be laying low for a while so as not to become the talk of the town.

Tara Reid saw fit to muscle in on Aerosmith's action Friday at the Hard Rock Hotel. The "American Pie" starlet was in the audience at the band's concert and decided to follow members out to the casino post-show, where Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton obliged 30 radio contest winners by playing blackjack.

Reid gave Tyler a big, friendly hug before plunking herself down at his table. The actress, who has been photographed in various unflattering party poses of late, took kindly to the Hard Rock photo op -- even though it wasn't exactly hers for the taking.

People are still wondering about Gladys Knight's involvement with Danny Gans and his manager Chip Lightman. Lightman and Gans helped Knight seal her recently announced one-year deal with Flamingo Las Vegas and they will also assist in producing duties. Entertainment insiders, apparently curious as to why Gans would team with a performer in another property's showroom, dug around and found that the deeply religious impressionist and Knight are both affiliated with the same church group.

Former "Six Million Dollar Man" Lee Majors isn't moving into his new $650,000 Turnberry Place penthouse all by his lonesome. According to the Los Angeles Times, Majors is sharing his 2,200-square-foot spread with his 27-year-old fiancee, Faith Noelle. Noelle and Majors, 61, have been an item for about seven years. You do the math.

There was one borderline celebrity whose date didn't make it into Robin Leach's boy's club bonanza at the Palms on Friday night. (Leach hosted a high-roller bash that was ... politely geared toward men.)

Gene Simmons, The Scintas, Clint Holmes, Joey Buttafuoco and a handful of rock 'n' rollers were allowed into the party, but former porno honcho Ron Jeremy was denied entry by Palms' security, according to a witness. Apparently Jeremy's escort that evening was a young girl with no ID and, playing the gentleman, Jeremy decided that if she wasn't getting in, he'd sit it out as well.
