Frank Avila

Frank Avila, 50, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born March 21, 1951, in Mexico. A resident for five years, he was a drywaller.

He is survived by four daughters, Shaunndra Avila of Vista, Calif., and Vanessa Avila, Shaunntae Avila-Deuel and Shaunna Avila-McClure, all of Escondido, Calif.; two sons, Anthony Avila of Virginia Beach, Va., and Matthew Guerrero of San Diego; six brothers, Fernando Avila of California, Jesus Avila, Jose Avila and Manuel Avila, all of Las Vegas, Ricardo Avila of Henderson and Roberto Avila of Texas; four sisters, Rebecca Avila of Las Vegas, Madelana Bosworth and Rosario Reys, both of Henderson and Patricia Funk of the Philippines; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Heber 'Jim' Carlton

Heber 'Jim' Carlton, 92, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 17, 1909, in Texas. A resident for 45 years, he was a bartender, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Bartenders Local 165 and the Las Vegas Athletic Club.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mildred; and one sister, Lois Vann of St. Louis.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Monday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Juanita Mae Cathers

Juanita Mae Cathers, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 30, 1926, in Princeton, W.Va. A resident for 56 years, she was a retired sales manager.

She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Strow and Margaret Wilgar, both of Las Vegas, Millie Benhan of Los Alamos, N.M., and Marilyn Yantze of Columbus, Ohio; three sons, Charles Belcher of Placerville, Calif., and Samuel Belcher and David Belcher, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Geneieve Moore of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will be private.

Deborah Cox

Deborah Cox, 51, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 4, 1950, in Malden, Mass. A resident for seven years, she was an administrative assistant and member of the Anti-Defamation League for 16 years and a member of World of Difference.

She is survived by her husband, John O. Cox of Las Vegas.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling private arrangements.

Dominic J. Cuti

Dominic J. Cuti, 91, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A machinist for a steel mill, he was born April 5, 1910, in Ohio.

He is survived by one son, Leonard Cuti.

Joseph Nicholas DeYulio

Joseph Nicholas DeYulio, 78, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Syracuse, N.Y. A resident for 17 years, he was retired and was a World War II Army veteran who served in the 599th Signal Air Warning Battalion.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa LaMarca of Las Vegas and Lesley DeFio of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Marie Richer of Syracuse, N.Y.; and one grandchild.

Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation of Nevada, 4100 Boulder Highway, Las Vegas, NV 89121.

Betty Gang

Betty Gang, 93, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born April 15, 1908, in New York. A resident for many years, she was a teacher.

She is survived by one son, Jay Gang of New York state.

No local services are scheduled. Graveside services will be in Farmingdale, N.Y. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W.Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Media M. Lacombe

Media M. Lacombe, 93, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Dec. 11, 1908, in St. Paul, New Brunswick. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Louise Rogers of Las Vegas; one sister, Yvonne Tardy of Caribou, Maine; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Consuelo Mautner

Consuelo Mautner, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 3, 1921, in Del Rio, Texas. A resident for nine years, she was a teller.

She is survived by her husband, David; three sons, Joe R. Gonzalez, David A. Gonzalez and Gilbert Gonzalez; three daughters, Mary Ann Rojas, Roselee Von Giesen and Hope Watcharaprecha; five brothers, Benita Romeros, Eduardo Romeros, Joe Romeros, Juan Romeros and Salomen Romeros; three sisters, Beta Garcia, Mary Ann Deltoro and Eva Romeros; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd., followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Daniel Patrick Murphy

Daniel Patrick Murphy, 54, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 24, 1947, in Turlock, Calif. A resident for 50 years, he was a gaming employee at the Riviera.

He is survived by his mother, Almarita Murphy of Henderson; and one sister, Dianna Walstra of Las Vegas.

Clarence E. Reed

Clarence E. Reed, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 8, 1928, in McCamey, Texas. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Tomi Blume of Las Vegas; and one daughter, Jeanette M. Biggie of Port Richey, Fla.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Burnetta Nettie Sandoval

Burnetta Nettie Sandoval, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A housing authority manager for the city of Los Angeles, she was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Fort Smith, Ark.

She is survived by her husband, Jess; one son, Ronald R. Jackson, one sister, Donnie Morgan, and one brother, Montie Gradner, all of California; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 12:40 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

James H. Sears

James H. Sears, 70, of Westlake Village, Calif., died Jan. 4 in a California hospital. He was born March 20, 1931, in Los Angeles. A former Las Vegas resident for more than 15 years, he was a general manager at Fletcher Jones and Jack Bigger Nissan, an Air Force veteran and a 1952 football All-American at the University of Southern California.

He is survived by two sons, Rick Sears and Gifford Sears, and his ex-wife, Diane Sears, all of California; and five grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. A memorial service will be Jan. 19 in California. Pierce Brothers, Valley Oaks, Westlake Village, is handling arrangements.

Peter G. Shayne

Peter G. Shayne, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Germany. A resident for five years, he was a retired real estate broker.

He is survived by his wife, Gery; and one sister, Ursula Borman of Canada.

Ronald N. Withaeger Sr.

Ronald N. Withaeger Sr., 39, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 5, 1962, in Chicago. A resident for 10 years, he was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by his wife, Dana M.; one son, Ronald N. Withaeger Jr., and one daughter, Angela Withaeger, both of Las Vegas; and his father, Norbert H. Withaeger of Phoenix.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.
