Columnist Kate Maddox: Was Mick in Strip quickie?

Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 | 4:25 a.m.

Mick Jagger got burned on his last trip to Las Vegas, according to reports coming out of the U.K.

Following his appearance at the Radio Music Awards in October, the Rolling Stones star reportedly took a liking to an 18-year-old local stripper who called herself " Iris." Iris claims she went to Jagger's suite at Aladdin and, whoopsie, dropped her video recorder on the floor (triggering the "On" button, of course) before proceeding to get to know him better.

Enterprising Iris then tried to sell her "accidental" videotape to the British tabloids for a minimum of $60,000. The tabs, most notably The Mirror, smelled a rat and turned her down, but not before the story of Jagger's Vegas romp made news around the world.

Iris, for her part, isn't hiding. On Thursday at Insomnia, a young exotic dancer matching Iris' description was heard bragging about her Jagger video conquest. Insomnia is the new late-night club inside Blue Note Las Vegas.

In an attempt to clear his name, Jagger's attorneys insisted the whole sex sting story was a hoax. They issued a denial of the video on Wednesday and said that the person who was caught on tape at the Aladdin "categorically ... is not Mick Jagger."

If Dennis Quaid & The Sharks can do it ...

Bruce Willis and The Accelerators will reportedly attempt to fill a Vegas venue on Feb. 1. Friends of Willis, who like Quaid moonlights as a rocker, say he's managed to book his band into a room at MGM Grand. A spokeswoman for the hotel didn't return a call for comment on Friday.

Dennis Rodman didn't let a little thing like getting arrested compete with his plans to party in Vegas last week.

On Jan. 5 the former NBA bad boy was arrested at his restaurant in Newport Beach, Calif., after refusing to let cops inside. He was cuffed, booked and released. By Wednesday Rodman was safely ensconced inside ghostbar's VIP area at the Palms.

Gladys Knight, who last week inked a one-year deal to headline at Flamingo Las Vegas, was thrilled that her niece Aaliyah was honored posthumously during Wednesday's American Music Awards.

"I thought it was really, really beautiful," Knight said. "(Aaliyah) was going to be a light for her peers and for young women everywhere ... The whole family, we were all happy about (her awards)."

Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in August, won Favorite Soul Artist and Favorite Soul Album awards.

Howard Stern is planning to place another $100,000 bet when he returns to the Hard Rock Hotel next month. Stern will reportedly play a hand of blackjack for the listener who calls his show with the saddest life story. Last Super Bowl Sunday Stern did the same for a woman with a truly tragic tale of woe. He gave her his winnings -- the money Stern bet was provided by an Internet company.

This time around the shock jock is scheduled to broadcast from the hotel during the first week of February. Last year's Stern spectacle brought in record Hard Rock crowds and profits.

Saturday night's Nevada Ballet Theatre Black & White Ball will honor Broadway veteran Chita Rivera. The annual to-do (widely known as the cultural fund-raiser) this year features a celebrity committee comprised of Jerry Lewis, Dick Van Dyke, Shirley MacLaine, Phyllis McGuire, Clint Holmes and last year's NBT honoree, Debbie Reynolds. The posh party will be held at Caesars Palace and, if you step on it, tickets might still be available. Call 243-2623 for information.
