Frank Avila
Frank Avila, 50, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born March 21, 1951, in Mexico. A resident for five years, he was a construction worker.
He is survived by one daughter, Shauna McClure of California; six brothers, Fernando Avila of California, Jesus Avila, Jose Avila and Manuel Avila, all of Las Vegas, Ricardo Avila of Henderson and Roberto Avila of Texas; four sisters, Rebecca Avila of Las Vegas, Madelana Bosworth and Rosario Reys, both of Henderson, and Patricia Funk of the Philippines; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will be private. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Lee Andrew Bolden
Lee Andrew Bolden, 46, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 27, 1947, in Mississippi. A resident for 46 years, he was a self-employed shoe-shiner.
He is survived by one daughter, Andrea Bolden of Los Angeles; his mother, Otha Lee Finley; eight sisters, Claudia Bolden Woods, Diane Bass, Brenda Bolden, Connie Chavez, Tammie Bolden, Evon Bolden and Kimberly Bolden; five brothers, Quincy Bolden, Larry Bolden, Odis Bolden, Ray Bolden and Jarvis Bolden; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Zion Methodist Church, 2108 N. Revere St. Burial will be private.
David A. Cowan
David A. Cowan, 54, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Oklahoma City. A resident for 38 years, he was a produce processor.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sara Cowan.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; one daughter, Jeanette Cowan, one son, Gregory Cowan, and his stepfather, Joe A. Walker, all of Las Vegas; one stepbrother, Joe A. Walker Jr. of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and one sister, Dorothy Jo Woolbright of Oklahoma City.
A nicheside service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
William Etheredge
William Etheredge, 76, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Macon, Ga. A resident for five years, he was a retired Navy petty officer 1, a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, a member of American Legion, Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and Fleet Reserve.
He is survived by three daughters, Katherine Grant of North Port, Fla., Kristin Zych of North Las Vegas and Linda Sutton of Paradise, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
Bette Everett
Bette Everett, 64, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1937, in DuBois, Pa. A resident for two years, she was a retired data entry clerk for a fast food corporation.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby; three sons, Randy Everett of Costa Mesa, Calif., Lance Everett of Santa Ana, Calif., and Mark Everett of Youngstown, N.Y.; one sister, Pat Okonski of Fairless Hills, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Jennie Giaimo
Jennie Giaimo, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 6, 1918, in New Haven, Conn. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Mario Giaimo and Joe Giaimo, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Dolores Lanosa of Henderson; two brothers, Jerry DeLucia and Joe DeLucia, both of New Haven; two sisters, Julia DiCapua of West Haven, Conn., and Emma Pishateli of New Haven; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
Gordon Bennett Gibbs Jr.
Gordon Bennett Gibbs Jr., 76, of Henderson died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 10, 1925, in Texas. A resident for 39 years, he was a keno writer.
He is survived by five sons, Bobby Gibbs of California and Jim Gibbs, Tiger Gibbs, Tony Gibbs and William Gibbs, three daughters, Pam Bremhall, Pat Mazner and Allene M. Vassar, all of Nevada; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Friday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Zykia D. Green
Zykia D. Green, 19 days, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 17, 2001, in Las Vegas.
She is survived by her mother, Naisha Green of North Las Vegas; and her father, DeAngelo Coleman of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Victor F. Gruber
Victor F. Gruber, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 14, 1930, in Czechoslovakia. A resident for 10 years, he was a draftsman and a Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Chris Gruber and Lawrence Gruber, both of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Victoria Sanchez of Huntington Beach, Erica Gruber of Buena Vista, Calif., and Elizabeth Davis of Salt Lake City; and three grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in Riverside, Calif. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Elaine Marie Harris
Elaine Marie Harris, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 10, 1927, in New Orleans. A resident for 12 years, she was a real estate agent.
She is survived by one son, Theard "Ted" of California; two brothers, James St. Julien and George St. Julien, and one sister, Patricia Bennett, all of Louisiana; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. H St. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive, is handling arrangements.
Shirley Edith Healy
Shirley Edith Healy, 76, of Las Vegas died Dec. 20 in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Los Angeles. A resident for 10 years, she was a supervisor for Pacific Bell , a member of the Los Prados Women's Golf Association and the 18-Holer Group.
She is survived by her husband, William Harold; four sisters, Margie Evans, Sally Stover, Arlene McBride and Carol Wright.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. A reception will follow at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Los Prados Country Club, Lone Mountain Road and Decatur Blvd.

Myrtle Lamb Howery
Myrtle Lamb Howery, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born July 16, 1925, in Alamo. A lifelong resident, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley G. Howery, former city commissioner and chairman of the Convention Authority.
She is survived by one daughter, Patti Huff of Las Vegas; one son, Michael Howery of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Wanda Peccole and Erma McIntosh, and four brothers, former state Sen. Floyd Lamb, former Clark County Sheriff Ralph Lamb, former Clark County Commissioner Darwin Lamb and Larry Lamb, all of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Judie M. Jackson
Judie M. Jackson, 71, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Darnell, La. A resident for 36 years, she was a retired hotel room attendant.
She is survived by her husband, Morris E.; six daughters, Minnie E. Jackson, Judie Jackson, Vivian Buchanan-Fountain, Earline Strickland, Louise Lee and Denise Jackson, and two sons, Morris Jackson Jr. and Ricky Jackson, all of North Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Jones. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Neil S. Karren
Neil S. Karren, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Lewiston, Utah. A resident for 29 years, he was a dentist, an employee of New York Life and a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie T.; one son, Douglas Neil Karren, and one daughter, Susan K. Lemmon, both of Las Vegas; six brothers, Ves Karren of Kearns, Utah, Sheral Karren of Bountiful, Utah, Thayne Karren of Roy, Utah, Jay Dee Karren of Nampa, Idaho, Ronald Karren of Centerville, Utah, and Keith Karren of Lewiston, Utah; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Friday in the LDS Cimarron Ward. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Michael Lathum-Ellis
Michael Lathum-Ellis, 50, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1951, in San Francisco. A resident for 15 years, he was a city government clerk.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ellis of Walnut, Calif.; and one brother, David Ellis of Eureka, Calif.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday in the Metropolitan Community Church of Las Vegas, 1140 Almond Tree Lane. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Alexia Lockhart
Alexia Lockhart, 4 months, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 2, 2001, in Las Vegas.
She is survived by her mother, Chelan Lasha, her father, Sullivan Lockhart, four sisters, Tiona Francis, Yah'che Lasha, Chenell Lynn and Chardonney Lockhart, and two brothers, Brondon Hankston and Omar Lasha, all of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Craig Lasha of Grand Rapids, Mich., Carla Lasha of Los Angeles and Bertha and Curtis Lockhart Sr. of Las Vegas.
Visitation is private. Graveside services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Jack A. Loeb
Jack A. Loeb, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born March 21, 1912, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 7 1/2 years, he was a retired butcher shop owner-operator.
He is survived by two sons, Jay D. Loeb of Pittsburgh and Richard D. Loeb of Las Vegas; one daughter, Bonnie J. Loeb of New York City; one brother, Leo A. Loeb of Little Rock, Ark.; and four grandchildren.

Paulino Manubay
Paulino Manubay, 39, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1962, in the Philippines. A resident for 15 years, he was a dialysis technician.
He is survived by his wife, Simonette; one son, Angelo Manubay of Guam; two daughters, Pauline Manubay of Guam and Jade Navato of Las Vegas; his parents, Felix and Ofelia Manubay, three brothers, Clarito Manubay, Loy Manubay and Elieboy Manubay, and one sister, Esther Flores, all of the Philippines.

Richard Dixon Parker, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born July 2, 1929, in Boston. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired elevator constructor, a Marine Corps veteran, a member of the American Legion, Elks and International Elevator Constructors Local 18.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Quincy, Mass.; two daughters, Jennifer Parker of Kingman, Ariz., and Jessica Parker of Quincy; one son, Richard Parker of Kingman, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Richard C. Paul, 35, of Las Vegas died Saturday in San Bernardino, Calif. He was born Sept. 6, 1966, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a landscape company owner.
He is survived by two sons, Richard A. Paul and Colton T. Paul, and his parents, Richard D. and Jeri Paul, all of Las Vegas; and one sister, Stacy M. Burpee of Henderson.

Sam A. Portelli, 45, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1956, in Long Beach, Calif. A resident for 42 years, he was an iron worker.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; one daughter, Rachelle Naylor, four sons, Jon Portelli, David Portelli, Sam Portelli and Ridge Portelli, his mother, Dolores Roberts, and one sister, Monica Thomsen, all of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Chuck Shook, 70, of Searchlight died Friday in a local hospice. He was born May 25, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas. A resident for six years, he was a volunteer fire chief and EMTI with the Searchlight Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; three daughters, Janie Capps of North Carolina and Debbie Poucher and Vickie Bass, both of California; one son, Richard Shook, three stepdaughters, Christine Gendreau, Cheryl Morgan and Cathy Long, and one stepson, Aron John Paris, all of California; one sister, Ruth Ross of Texas; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Searchlight Community Center. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Steven A.; two daughters, Debra Pinney and Teresa Beith, both of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one son, Timothy Watkins of Howell, N.J.; three sisters, Linda Eppers and Elaine Rowan, both of California, and Lee Limp of Indiana; three brothers, J.R. Boltinghouse of Oregon, Terry Boltinghouse of Utah and Steven Boltinghouse of California; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was scheduled at 4 p.m. today in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.
Dorothy L. Stroeder
Dorothy L. Stroeder, 80, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born April 21, 1921, in Idaho. A resident for four years, she was a retired owner-operator of a furniture store in Morgan Hill, Calif.
She is survived by two daughters, Judi Serlin of Las Vegas and Sharyn Zawada of Sandpoint, Idaho; one stepson, John Stroeder of Port Townsend, Wash.; two sisters, Edith Adams of Washington state and Carol Armstrong of Belmont, Calif.; one brother, Bill Montague of Oregon; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Central Christian Church in Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
