SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- Assemblywoman Dawn Gibbons, R-Reno, said today she would run for a third term in a switch of plans by Republican Assembly members.
Under reapportionment, Gibbons was placed in a district with Assemblyman David Humke, R-Reno, who has served since the 1983 session. After the 2001 Legislature, Gibbons said she would not run against Humke in the revamped district.
Gibbons, wife of Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., said Humke has decided not to seek re-election so she will be a candidate in District 25, a heavily Republican area south of Reno.
She said Washoe County lost four Assembly seats in reapportionment and that she hadn't wanted "to cause any pain" by running against Humke, a fellow Republican.
