Donation center open on Eastern
Goodwill of Southern Nevada has opened a new attended donation center at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway.
The donation center, in the Horizon Ridge Pointe Shopping Center by Albertson's, started accepting donations Thursday.
"The addition of this (donation center) gives people living in Anthem, Seven Hills and other neighboring communities another option of where to donate their gently used clothing and other items," Steve Chartrand, president and CEO of Goodwill, said.

Celebrities help raise $10,000
The Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes raised more than $10,000 for children's charities nationwide through its Celebrity Trim-a-Tree program.
The program was a joint promotion with BESTproductions and ran from Dec. 6 to New Year's Eve. More than 45 national and local celebrities decorated oversized holiday ornaments, which were autographed as well.
People were allowed to bid on the ornaments through a silent auction. There were 143 bids submitted from people across the nation. Money raised from the sale of these ornaments was donated to the charity of the celebrity's choice.
"Our phones rang with inquiries about the ornaments since we launched the promotion," Fred Walters, general manager of The Grand Canal Shoppes, said. "It was a fun way to help celebrate the season."
Celebrities who participated included the cast of "Friends," the cast of "The West Wing," Demi Moore, the cast of "Mystere," Danny Gans, Clint Holmes and other TV and radio hosts.
