Lied shelter offers special program
The Lied Animal Shelter is offering free rabies shots with any pet license or microchip ID purchases made throughout January.
The shelter is kicking off Companion Animal Health Month this week by keeping its Low Cost Shot Clinic open from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday to Friday for the free shots. After Jan. 11 the clinic will offer the shots on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Cat and dog licenses are $10 if the animals are spayed or neutered or $25 if they are not. The microchip installations cost $15 per animal.
Education workshops to be developed
Clark County Parks and Recreation's Cultural Division and the Clark County School District's School-Community Partnership Program are offering a hands-on seminar April 23-24 at the Cambridge Recreation Center.
The seminar is designed to develop the skills of artists in presenting educational workshops for teachers.

Ceremony planned for Duck Creek
A ceremony highlighting the substantial completion of a flood control project for the Lower Duck Creek is scheduled 11 a.m. Wednesday near the Sierra Vista Ranchos community.
The project is associated with the Lower Duck Creek Wash between Tomiyasu Lane and Warm Springs Road. For more information regarding the ceremony, call Tammi Tiger at 455-2762.
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department
will present its Coffee Shop concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. The father and son duo is known for their musicianship and versatility on the American Indian flute. Admission is free. Call 565-2367.
