Lawsuits for January 7, 2002

Recently filed Las Vegas-area business-related lawsuits. Except where noted, the defendants couldn't be reached for comment, declined comment or haven't responded to the allegations.

U'Ren, whom the company said filed a claim on Nov. 7 with the Labor Commissioner for the state of California for $55,425 in unpaid wages for work done between January and April, was accused of billing the company for naps taken on the job, for non-existent overtime and double time, "losing multiple edit decisions, mangling media transfers and (submitting) excessive and improper invoices for time allegedly spent working on the program."

Leslie Bausher, American West's vice president, commented: "American West has been diligent in working with everyone in making any necessary repairs at the development since Sept. 1. We found there were issues related to original design that needed attention. For example, there's a window pop-out that created a surface where rain water could seep into house. That caused some water intrusion, but it's nothing severe."
