Red Horse Squadron on mission

Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 | 9:41 a.m.

More than 250 members of the 820th Red Horse Civil Engineering Squadron were scheduled to leave Nellis Air Force Base today for a secret destination in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the war on terrorism.

The squadron provides support, engineering and infrastructure for U.S. forces abroad, Nellis officials said.

The squadron also undertakes humanitarian missions. In the past three years the squadron has helped repair airport runways in Albania, built a school in Grenada and worked to repair the damage caused by Hurricane Mitch in El Salvador.
