SCORE volunteers will offer help
The Las Vegas Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives presents the workshop "How to Really Start Your Own Business," at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Foley Federal Building, 300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Suite 1100.
SCORE counselors will cover marketing, cash flow, the business plan and a check list for licensing, permits and other requirements.

Classes scheduled to start this month
Classes ranging from arts to sports are scheduled to begin this month through the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department.
Among the classes being offered are computers, fitness, arts and crafts, dance, child development, languages, martial arts and music.
Also, adult soccer league registration begins Jan. 23 and flag football league registration will begin Feb. 26.

A contest to select a license plate
to honor the Nevada Test Site begins Monday. According to the Nevada Test Site Historical Foundation, the contest is open to anyone 18 and older and the first prize is $500, a commemorative plaque and one year's specialty license plate registration paid by the foundation. Deadline for entry submission is Feb. 1. For an application, call JoAnne Thomas at 317-0775 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
