Here are the top 10 NCAA teams as compiled by Ski Racing magazine. Teams are listed according to total points, with first-place votes in parentheses.
1. Denver (5) 77
2. Colorado (1) 66
3. Utah 66
4. Vermont (2) 62
5. New Mexico 45
6. Middlebury 34
7. Dartmouth 32
8. Nevada-Reno 26
9. Northern Michigan 14
10. Alaska-Anchorage 12
( Tie for second place broken in Colorado's favor thanks to first-place vote.)
In Ski Racing's NCAA Coaches' Poll for 2002, coaches were asked to pick the top 10 schools in order, with schools receiving 10 points for first, nine for second, eight for third, down to one point for 10th. Eight coaches from NCAA Division I ski schools took part in this year's poll. The University of Denver, the two-time defending NCAA champ, came out on top, with 77 points and five first-place votes. Also receiving votes for first place were Colorado and Vermont.
