Local students to compete

More than 55 local students will compete Saturday in the Southern Nevada Regional Student Model Bridge Building Contest at the Thomas T. Beam Engineering Complex on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. The students built more than 300 wooden bridges, which will be tested to their breaking points under weights. Children's book to be unveiled

St. Rose Dominican Hospital is marking Women's History Month by unveiling a special children's book written by Carol Bower and illlustrated by local schoolchildren. The book is part of a series the hospital started five years ago to annually recognize the lives of important women in St. Rose's history. This year the book profiles Eleanor Cunningham, who started as a nurse at St. Rose in 1958. For more information, call 616-7554.

Women's Auxiliary to give tour

The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary is giving a tour, followed by an Italian buffet lunch beginning at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the New Liberace Museum, 1775 E. Tropicana Ave. Admission is $18. Call 870-4430, Ext. 10.
