Letter: Treat the flag with respect

I get so disgusted with people who claim to be so patriotic. They hang a flag and that's it. The flag hangs regardless of the weather, rain, wind and nightfall.

If a flag hangs out all night there is supposed to be a light shining on it. It's not supposed to hang in rain or wind. When going to half staff the flag is to run all the way up and then halfway down.

I saw a flag on a car yesterday that was so beaten that the stripes ended at the edge of the stars, but they kept it flying on their car.

We made a flag pole with a rope so we could hang the flag each day. We bring it in each night. We do not hang it when the wind blows, and if it should rain again, we will not hang the flag.
