Green Valley teams capture state titles

Green Valley High School swept the 4A state bowling championships at the Orleans on Thursday, successfully defending its girls title and winning back the boys trophy it surrendered to Silverado last year.
The Gator boys defeated Durango 5-2, outscoring the Trailblazers 2,979-2,699 in total pins. Kyle Wilke led the way, posting a high game of 259 and a high series of 680.
Green Valley's girls squad got past Clark 5-2, with a total pins advantage of 2,529-2,361. Sara Plotkin finished with a high game of 211 and a high series of 574 to help the Gators win.
