Home prices up 9 percent

The median price for existing homes in Las Vegas rose more significantly in 2001 than in most U.S. cities, the National Association of Realtors reported.
In the Las Vegas Valley, the median existing home price rose 9 percent in 2001 to $149,100, compared to a 5 percent rise in 2000.
That compares to a 6 percent increase in the median price of previously owned homes nationwide last year, up from a 4 percent rise in 2000.
In the West, the median price for existing homes was up 4 percent in 2001, down slightly from a 5 percent increase in 2000.
Reno's median existing home price increased 8 percent in 2001, up from a 4 percent increase in 2000.
