Budweiser’ slot machines coming by year’s end

Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 | 11:08 a.m.

Shuffle Master Inc. of Las Vegas announced Thursday it plans to introduce two "Budweiser"-themed slot machines -- one video and one mechanical reel game -- by year's end.

Nevada will be among the states where the slots will be submitted for approval, said Shuffle Master Senior Vice President Brooke Dunn. Shuffle Master licensed the Budweiser brand from Anheuser-Busch Inc.

Predicting when the slot will actually be introduced in Nevada is difficult, Dunn said, though the company will submit the slot for regulatory approval in the state by year's end.

Shuffle Master announced it will partner with Alliance Gaming Corp. on the mechanical reel slot. Under the agreement, Alliance's Bally Gaming & Systems will manufacture and program the slot machines, while Shuffle Master will handle the game's development, marketing and sales.

The video version will be developed entirely by Shuffle Master.
