Letter: Why bail out Nevada Power?

Regarding the Sun's Feb. 4 editorial, "Hoping to change the subject":

Your editorial hit the bull's-eye regarding Nevada Power's attempt to pull the proverbial wool over the consumer's eye with its offer to spread the cost of its proposed rate hike over six years instead of three. The consumer would wind up paying more in the long run. That kind of convoluted mathematics may be what got Nevada Power into the situation of paying too much for too little in the first place!

Since they got themselves into this mess, why should we bail them out? If I buy merchandise that's too expensive for my pocketbook, I suffer the consequences. It's called budgeting.

Maybe it's time Nevada Power stockholders suffered a little to see what it's like for the rest of us.
