Although the fishing for striped bass at Lake Mead continues to be slow throughout the lake, there have been some encouraging signs as anglers have been finding fish in some locations.
Walt deMattos, creel census clerk for the Nevada Division of Wildlife, said boaters who have been fishing recently in the Overton Arm have caught stripers from Stewart's Point to Overton Beach. The fish were caught in deep water with anchovies.
Anglers who have been fishing in the Boulder Basin have reported to deMattos that they have been finding stripers around Sand Island and outside the tires at Las Vegas Bay Marina.
Tilapia that weigh from two to three pounds are being caught with green Powerbait in brush in the Muddy and Virgin rivers. Anglers have been reporting that they are catching crappie in those areas as well, but none have been seen recently by creel clerks.
Rainbow trout will be stocked Friday at Horsepower Cove, Hemenway Harbor, South Saddle Cove and B-5 (Pumphouse) Cove.
