Letter: Local physicians are forced out
Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 | 8:48 a.m.
I have been following the recent malpractice controversy closely. I was hoping that Gov. Kenny Guinn would at minimum call a special legislative session before it was too late for our local physicians.
Unfortunately, for our family, the crisis has become a reality. As of Feb. 1 the neurologist who has been treating my son has quit practicing. I was hoping for a referral to his brother (also a neurologist), only to discover that he too is leaving Las Vegas due to the malpractice costs.
I am curious if Gov. Guinn can recommend a state where we can drive to for medical care when the rest of the physicians leave Nevada on or before July 1 when their insurance expires.
