Jurors who convicted a 28-year-old man of first-degree murder Monday in a gang slaying will learn Wednesday about time he has already spent in prison before deciding whether he should get a chance at parole.
Ashley Bennett was found guilty of being one of a handful of gang members who killed Joe Williams, 26, March 3, 2001. He now faces two consecutive life sentences with or without the possibility of parole or a fixed term of 50 to 100 years in prison.
Six men were charged with murder in Williams' death, but charges were dismissed against three of them when a key witness could not be sure of their identity.
