Some workers losing insurance

Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 | 11:07 a.m.

Binion's Horseshoe casino in downtown Las Vegas is cutting health insurance benefits for many of its non-union employees, including dealers, effective April 1.

Binion's announced the move in a memo issued to employees by the human resources department on Jan. 30. The memo stated that the downtown hotel-casino was "in the process of negotiating with an outside insurance provider to provide continued medical coverage" to employees losing their coverage, but that such coverage would be available solely at employee expense.

The memo gave no reason for the discontinued medical coverage. Binion's officials could not be reached for comment.
