Jones joins board of directors
Terra West Property Management President and co-owner Deborah Jones has joined the board of directors of Nevada Public Radio Corp., which owns and operates KNPR 89.5-FM.
Jones supervises a staff of 60 employees at Terra West, which manages more than 1,200 residential properties and 157 community associations. Call 362-6262.
Advice offered on new businesses
Las Vegas Chapter Service Corps of Retired Executives will present the next "How to Really Start Your Own Business" workshop at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Foley Federal Building, 300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Suite 1100.
SCORE counselors will cover marketing, cash flow, the business plan and a check list for licensing, permits and other requirements.
Cost is $45 and includes a 292-page reference manual and a workbook to help analyze your business ideas. For more information, call 388-6104.
Area youths to get booklets
More than 100,000 Inner-City Games registration booklets were delivered last week to the Clark County School District and will be distributed to area schools this week.
Last year more than 13,000 area youths competed in the Games that since 1996 have drawn more than 60,000 competitors.
The Games kick off March 12 and will feature six months of sporting events including basketball, track, baseball, golf, baseball and soccer, as well as hip-hop dance, chess, creative writing and computer camp.
Youths encouraged to do a good deed
A contest, "Do a Good Deed Essay," is being held to encourage youths to do a good deed and write an essay detailing what they did and what they learned from the process.
The contest is sponsored by Dr. Mark Lambrick and Henderson Family Dental, 537 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
The contest will run until April 30. Individuals interested in participating may get all of the details at Henderson Family Dental. For more information, call 564-2526.
Women over 50
may sign up for a new volleyball league beginning the third week of March by calling 633-2567. Games will be Thursday evenings at the North Las Vegas Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane.
Wellspring Church of All Nations
