Recapping UNLV's 90-75 win over DePaul on Sunday:
First half
Score: UNLV 39, DePaul 37
The Man: With Dalron Johnson missing the final 8:37 with three fouls, Chris Richardson gave the Rebels 18 solid minutes and compiled eight points and five rebounds.
Turning point: UNLV's lead was nine with four minutes left in the half, but two 3-pointers by backup guard Joe Tulley keyed a 10-3 spurt that boosted DePaul within 39-37 at halftime.
Off the bench: It's becoming a custom. Jevon Banks (six points) and Lou Amundson (four) both made immediate contributions to help the Rebels overcome early foul trouble.
Game within the game: DePaul trailed for most of the half, but gave a good account of itself despite missing two starters to suspension (point guard Imari Sawyer, center Sam Hoskin).
Second half
Final: UNLV 90, DePaul 75
The Man: In the Rebels' most balanced scoring attack of the season, Lou Kelly scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half. He also dealt a career-high seven assists.
Turning point: DePaul took a 51-49 lead with 15:09 to play, but the Rebels responded with a 14-2 run in the next five minutes, with Johnson and Marcus Banks scoring four points each.
Off the bench: The suddenly mature Amundson scored a career-high 13 points (his previous high: six) and Jevon Banks supplied 12 in 17 minutes. Both made 4 of 6 shots.
Game within the game: UNLV wasn't flawless in transition, however. The Rebels blew a 5-on-1 break in the first half (turnover) and got nothing from a 4-on-1 in the second (missed free throws).
