Growth numbers tallied

The city of Henderson's Economic Development Division and the Henderson Development Authority recognized companies that have relocated or expanded their operations to Henderson during an awards program Thursday night.

Bob Cooper, economic development manager for the city, said 40 companies have relocated of expanded to Henderson in the past three years, bringing in 1,000 jobs.

He estimated the impact of economic development, for the past year at $138 million, including $104 for new construction, $26 million in payroll and $8 million in new business purchases. Cooper's estimates don't include new retail or gaming developments, such as the $300 million Green Valley Ranch Station Casino that opened in December with 1,200 employees.
