Two men are facing additional charges

Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 | 11:20 a.m.

Two men arrested earlier this month on charges of stealing guns from the armory at the state Division of Parole and Probation have also been charged with breaking into a local Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Jonathan Avendano, 21, and Joshua Moyers, 19, are accused of taking more than $1,000 in cash and some lost-and-found property from the DMV office, Metro Police said.

They might have used keys taken from Moyer's father, who works for the Division of Buildings and Grounds, to get into the buildings.

Lt. Bob DuVall said the pair took dozens of handguns and thousands of rounds of ammunition from the Parole and Probation building on East Bonanza Road the weekend of Nov. 29. Most of the guns have been recovered.
