Internet gambling firm suspends CEO

LONDON -- World Gaming Plc, an Internet gambling company, said it has suspended Chief Executive Officer David Graven and is investigating unspecified allegations.

Chairman Nicholas Jackson will serve as acting chief executive during the probe, which the company expects to finish by the middle of next month, the company said.

Jackson didn't immediately respond to an e-mail message seeking comment. A call to the company's London offices wasn't immediately returned.

Graven was named World Gaming's chief executive in July. The company in August pleaded guilty in Canada to running an illegal online gambling operation and agreed to pay C$3.87 million ($2.5 million) to settle the charges, the National Post reported.
