New board member appointed

The former chairman of First Boston Inc. and First Boston Corp. has been appointed to the board of directors of Wynn Resorts Ltd.

Alvin V. Shoemaker, who retired in 1989 when First Boston was acquired by Credit Suisse Bank, joins an eight-member board headed by Chairman Steve Wynn and Vice Chairman Kazuo Okada.

Shoemaker, who was named chairman of the board of First Boston in 1983, previously served as president and chief executive officer of Blyth Eastman Paine Webber and its predecessor, Blyth Eastman Dillon & Co. Shoemaker also was chairman of the University of Pennsylvania board of trustees from 1986-1994 and co-chaired Penn's successful $1.4 billion capital campaign.

Wynn Resorts is developing the $2.4 billion Le Reve hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip and has a controlling interest in a company building a casino in the Chinese city of Macau.
