More cold weather ahead

Las Vegans may not be able to count on a White Christmas, but continued cold weather is expected to bring a seasonal chill to Southern Nevada through Wednesday.

A spattering of snowflakes were reported early this morning in the western region of the Las Vegas Valley, said Larry Jensen, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. While the flakes didn't stick, there is a possibility of slight snow showers over the next few days, Jensen said.

As storms continue to move through the western United States, Southern Nevada faces "unsettled" weather patterns that will likely include rain, moderate winds and temperatures in the high 30s to low 50s, Jensen said.

Today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, the National Weather Service reports. Temperatures are not expected to climb beyond the low 50s, with a southwest wind of 5 to 15 mph. Overnight temperatures will dip to the upper 30s with continued light wind.

The cloudy weather will likely continue through Saturday and Sunday.
