Allegiant Air will inaugurate non-stop service between Las Vegas and Wichita, Kan., in February, the company said.
The airline, which has its administrative headquarters in Las Vegas and its operational center in Fresno, Calif., will offer four flights a week beginning Feb. 27. Allegiant will fly twin-engine, 161-seat MD-83 jets on the route, which will run Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays.
Flights will leave McCarran International Airport those days at 9 a.m., arriving in Wichita at 1:20 p.m. Flights will leave Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport those days at 2:05 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 2:50 p.m.
No airline currently offers non-stop service between Las Vegas and Wichita.
The airline plans to promote the route through its Allegiant Vacations subsidiary, which packages air fare with hotel accommodations at 15 Las Vegas hotel-casinos.
Allegiant has a fleet of four twin-engine jets and has flights linking Fresno, Las Vegas and Colorado Springs, Colo. The company also operates a charter service with a client list that includes Harrah's Entertainment Inc., the U.S. Forest Service and the White House press corps.
