Letter: Don’t confuse personal, medical use of marijuana
Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 | 8:48 a.m.
Seth Zuckerman's Dec. 15 article in the Sun, "White House shouldn't misinterpret marijuana vote," is certainly a reality check.
Medical use is already approved in Nevada and personal use of marijuana would have passed if it weren't for two reasons: Sandra Thompson lost her life to a driver under its influence and the public was astonished at the actual amount of three ounces of the substance.
The issue will be back to Nevada voters as well as other voters across the nation. That's why it will be important to keep the name of Sandra Thompson and the names of other unfortunate victims alive in order not to get personal use mixed up with medical use.
